Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Signital.
Short answers on players, content, reliability and billing. The full documentation is at docs.signital.com.
1. Getting Started
Signital is a cloud-based digital signage platform that allows you to turn any screen into a powerful communication tool. You can manage images, videos, live web data, and schedules from a single dashboard and push them to screens anywhere in the world.
It’s a simple 3-step process:
Install the Signital app on your device (Smart TV, media player, or browser).
Enter the 5-character pairing code shown on your screen into the portal, or scan the QR code with your phone.
Your screen is now linked and ready for content.
No. Signital runs directly on Samsung Tizen and LG webOS displays, on Android TV, Amazon Fire TV, BrightSign and Raspberry Pi players, and in any modern web browser.
2. Content & Customization
Images as JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF and video as MP4, WebM or MOV, up to 100 MB per file. PDFs are added through the PDF widget, and you can also show Google Slides, YouTube, Vimeo and live web pages.
Yes. The Canvas editor ships with a gallery of 100+ templates for menus, announcements, schedules and promotions. Open one, swap the text, colours and images, and add it to a plan like any other widget.
Yes. Our custom layout engine allows you to divide your screen into multiple zones. You can show a main video in one area while running a news ticker, weather widget, or clock in another.
Absolutely. If your hardware (the screen and the media player) supports 4K, Signital will deliver your content in full 4K resolution.
Yes. Every display has its own plan alongside the channel it follows, so one branch can add a local special without touching what every other screen shows.
3. Technical & Reliability
Signital is built for resilience. Our players cache your content locally. If the internet drops, your screen will continue to play its assigned loop without interruption. It will simply check for new updates once the connection is restored.
The Dashboard shows the status of every display, with a Needs attention list of screens that have dropped off and how long they have been gone. The live wall refreshes every 30 seconds, and on the Business plan the Display status widget puts the same board on a screen in your office. Offline notifications by email are not available today.
Signital is hosted in the EU (Netherlands). Connections are encrypted and personal data is handled under the GDPR. Media is stored on our CDN and delivered to screens over HTTPS. An IP allow list can restrict which networks a display may connect from, and every edit is a draft until someone presses Publish changes.
Data-driven widgets like Weather, News, and Calendars refresh automatically every few minutes to ensure your audience is always seeing the most current information.
4. Billing & Subscriptions
Yes! We offer a fully functional free trial so you can explore the dashboard, test your hardware, and see the platform in action before committing to a plan.
Per display, monthly, and only for displays that were online during the month. Plans are billed in EUR or USD by card, or by bank transfer against an invoice for larger networks.
We use Recurly for secure subscription management and Braintree (a PayPal service) for payment processing. We do not store your full credit card details on our servers.
Yes. You can manage or cancel your subscription directly through your account settings. There are no long-term "lock-in" contracts for our standard plans.
